CAP MVTR- Vehicle maintenance - Road transport vehicles option

The holder of the "Vehicle Maintenance Option B" Vocational Aptitude Certificate carries out his service activity in all road transport vehicle maintenance sectors: in companies dependent on manufacturer networks (branches, dealerships, agents), or those dealing with all makes of vehicles, in the maintenance departments of transport and rental companies.The HGV mechanic's job requires perfect mastery of maintenance operations: dismantling, adjustments, replacement of components, diagnostics, etc.
The future HGV mechanic will know how to organise himself, maintain and repair his workstation, understand a work process and order the parts needed for a job. They will carry out routine maintenance on vehicles, dismantling and reassembling mechanisms and helping to ensure quality.

Vocational teaching:
- Carrying out first-level maintenance operations
- Carrying out a breakdown diagnosis

- Carrying out component replacements on electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and carrying out simple checks

- Replacing common components (brakes, oil changes...) and making adjustments accordingly

• Career prospects: The CAP in Vehicle Maintenance (Road Transport Vehicles option) enables you to work at an authorised repair centre or a dealership.
  After obtaining your qualification, you will be able to work as a road transport vehicle mechanic. 
  
  
• Further study options: The CAP leads directly into the workforce, but it is possible, under certain conditions, to continue your studies and prepare for a Bac Pro in Vehicle Maintenance (road transport vehicles option), a Professional Branch Certificate (CQP) as a Senior Technician in Commercial and Industrial Vehicles (VUI) or as a Specialist VUI Mechanic, and thus become a chief mechanic.
  
  
• Path to Success:
  • Mamadou C. arrived in France recently with a strong desire to succeed in the field of mechanics. Spotted at a careers fair by GRETA-CFA, he was referred to a partner company where he is currently employed on an apprenticeship contract for the CAP in Vehicle Maintenance, specialising in road transport vehicles. He is making rapid progress not only in acquiring professional skills but also in learning the language. He and his employer are already discussing the possibility of him continuing his studies towards a vocational baccalaureate.
