Acquire the qualification and skills for the reception, care and maintenance of the living environment of children under 6 years of age, in nursery schools/collective care centres for minors, at the parents' home or at their own home, in collective care establishments/services:
- conduct activities to animate and awaken young children with the aim of learning the rules of collective life, helping them to acquire autonomy, and aiding their emotional, intellectual and sensory development.
- carry out daily care activities (care, bodily hygiene, help with meals) in line with the child's physiological, emotional and physical safety needs.
- carry out sanitary maintenance activities.
- establish a relationship of trust with children and parents.
This diploma enables you to sit the eligibility tests for the auxiliary nursery nurse training course as well as the ATSEM competition organised by local authorities.
The training is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions in order to promote practical and progressive learning.

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.
A work placement also enables students to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.
Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

- a minimum knowledge of the early childhood sector, through professional experience (immersion in a professional environment, work placements or jobs), an assessment, support for the professional project as part of various schemes.
- gestural skills, the ability to work as part of a team.
For the 2-year training sessions: oral and written comprehension of the French language and basic numeracy or a level equivalent to class 3ème in general education (French, history geography and mathematics), obtained as part of initial schooling or refresher courses as part of a CLEA, ETAPS or other type of continuing education scheme.
For the training sessions offered in 1 year: It is necessary to have mastered basic knowledge (speaking, reading, writing and counting in French) and to hold a BEP, CAP , BAC or more in any field.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.
Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.
This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.
If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years

The CAP leads to working life but it is possible, under certain conditions, to continue by preparing a bac pro or to prepare for the entrance examinations for certain State Diplomas in the health and social sector.
