 BTS in Process Management

The aim of the BTS Pilotage de Procédés is to train potential team leaders supervising operators on a production line.
They must be able to pilot and have piloted a production line comprising several unit operations, ensuring product conformity in terms of quality, safety and with respect for the environment.

At the end of the course, the holder of the BTS will be able to:
- Optimise processes for the manufacture of existing and new products, with a view to improving performance (material consumption, cost price, environmental results, capacity and availability of installations)
- Run a process, taking account of incident management
- Organise and coordinate teams of production operators
- Assess risks and manage the maintenance of installations


The training is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote practical and progressive learning.

BC01: Contributing to a QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment) process improvement initiative

  • Organising the activities of external stakeholders in production,
  • Collecting and analysing QHSSE information,
  • Conduct a risk analysis

BC02: Production management

  • Collect and analyse maintenance data,
  • Manage operations under normal conditions,
  • Manage operations during transitional phases,
  • Manage operations in degraded mode,
  • Carry out an analysis of the causes of breakdowns or malfunctions,
  • Populate monitoring tools in accordance with procedures (database, traceability documents, QHSSE documents).

BC03:  Production analysis and management

  • Collect and analyse production data,
  • Determine process control parameters and associated values,
  • Plan production,
  • Collect and analyse information relating to staff skills and availability.

BC04: Collaboration in the workplace

  • Implement a continuous improvement and problem-solving approach,
  • Select the most appropriate means of communication for the situation,
  • Communicate information using the appropriate technical vocabulary,
  • Prepare and chair a meeting,
  • Build and maintain interpersonal relationships.

Throughout the course, students receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Monitoring and individualisation

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years
