The holder of the federal riding diploma is able to:

- To welcome the various publics and promote the activities and events of an equestrian establishment;

- To take part in the supervision of equestrian activities up to the first levels of competition, ensuring the safety of riders, third parties and equines;

- To maintain equines and infrastructures to enable them to be used in compliance with the principles of animal welfare, health and safety rules and the regulations in force.


Module 1 : Taking charge of the public and supervising equestrian activities - 240h

  • The fundamentals of reception and information
  • Communication within the supervisory team and with riders and their families
  • Knowledge of the main educational products of an equestrian establishment
  • Knowledge of children and their particularities
  • Knowledge of teenagers and their particularities
  • Knowledge of adults and their particularities
  • Knowledge of specific audiences: disability, integration, seniors, health sports, etc.
  • The posture, role and responsibility of the activity leader
  • Pedagogy: learning strategies and approaches, educational communication
  • Preparation and running of learning and activity sessions and cycles
  • Safety management in an activity situation
  • Safety management outdoors
  • Activity techniques: the game, the development of the environment, management of space and movement, group management, ...
  • Progression of the rider: federal training plan

Module 2: Mastery of equestrian techniques - 100h

  • Footwork: lungeing and jumping, long rein work
  • Flat work
  • Jump work
  • Outdoors and varied terrain
  • Preparing an equine for transport
  • Stowing and unloading an equine

Module 3: Care and maintenance of equines and infrastructure - 80h

  • Pony knowledge: breeds, size categories
  • Equine knowledge: equine well-being, sensory world, behaviours, lifestyles and social relationships
  • Equine feeding and watering
  • Routine, periodic and first aid care of equines
  • Cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance and safety of equine living areas
  • Cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance and safety of infrastructures and practice areas

Module 4: Activity management, institutional and regulatory environment - 70h

  • Preparation of equestrian activities and courses based on the structure's activities or federal resources
  • Promotion of the equestrian structure's activities
  • Regulations governing the professional supervision of and the reception of minors
  • Institutional environment and regulatory obligations and in terms of health and safety of the equestrian structure
  • Regulations on the transport of equidae
  • Federal resources and products

  • Certification issued by the French Equestrian Federation Level 3 (CAP)

Maximum total duration of 1,812 hours, including 1,280 hours in a company and 532 hours at the training centre.
The duration of the course is indicative and will be determined according to your profile.

  • All audiences

The applicant must meet the following requirements prior to entering the course:

● Be at least 16 years old;

● Hold the "level 1 civic prevention and first aid" certificate (PSC1) or "first aid training certificate" (AFPS) or a certificate recognised as equivalent by the regulations in force ;

● Present a medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice and supervision of horse riding dating from less than one year before the date of entry to the training course;

● Hold one of the following diplomas issued by the FFE

  • General case: Degree 1 or Galop 6 riding or wilderness;
  • When the training is carried out as an apprenticeship: Degree 1 or Galop 5 riding or wilderness;
  • When the training is carried out as an apprenticeship over a period of 2 years or more: Galop 3 riding or wilderness.

    • Equestrian centres and pony clubs providing riding lessons
    • Boarding stables for owners' horses offering or not a teaching activity

    He may sometimes, particularly when his activity is concentrated in the field of equine care and/or when he has a satisfactory level of equestrian technique, work within the following companies: Breeding, competition and/or commercial stables
