 CS - Certification of Specialisation Energy Services Technician

The holder of the complementary qualification "energy services technician" is required to operate and maintain high-power energy systems in companies with a demanding technological and regulatory context in terms of:

- the guarantee of energy saving and energy efficiency results;
- the rational management of the energy mix, with development of the proportion of renewable heat;
- the control of effluents and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

At the end of the course, the candidate will be able to carry out the following professional activities:

- optimised operation;
- palliative operation in the event of failure;
- preventive maintenance;
- control of safety, health and environmental risks.


The training is organised into several skill modules, allowing for step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote practical and progressive learning.

BC01 - Preparing for an intervention

  • Gathering information and researching safety data relating to the site and the installation
  • Collecting information relating to the site and the installation
  • Providing information or data verbally, written or digital form
  • Interpret technical documents
  • Extract the information required for operation and/or maintenance from the contract
  • Estimate costs based on the solutions adopted

BC02 - Operation and maintenance tasks

  • Implement the appropriate risk prevention plan
  • Ensure the traceability of tasks and events
  • Carry out tests
  • Start up and shut down the plant
  • Measure physical parameters indicative of operation
  • Log the plant in and out of service
  • Configure controllers and programmable logic controllers
  • Monitor operation
  • Select the appropriate tools, measuring instruments and suitable equipment
  • Follow a routine maintenance protocol
  • Maintain stable operating conditions and/or optimise operation
  • Diagnose a fault
  • Compare the readings taken with the target values
  • Determine the causes of a system malfunction

BC03 – Activities in the workplace

  • Identify risks to people, installations and the environment
  • Communicate using language appropriate to the person being addressed, depending on the technologies used
  • Accept installation or maintenance work
  • Monitor consumption and stock levels
  • Plan maintenance operations

Throughout the course, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor the learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years
