Advanced vocational diploma in metal architecture: design and production

At the end of their training, under the responsibility and control of a line manager and in contact with the various people involved in the project, the senior technician will be able to :

- analyse the customer's needs or the expectations of a contract to design the preliminary project

- design in detail and in digital form, prepare and manage the manufacture of load-bearing structures in steel and aluminium, buildings, engineering structures and other projects in accordance with the rules of the trade and complying with the regulations and standards in force, as well as environmental data

- take into account the participation of each component and all the trades involved in the project.

- take into account the context of the site (soil quality, environment, etc.) and manage the quality of increasingly numerous and interdependent interfaces

- respond to growing societal demands to reduce the consumption of raw materials, as part of an eco-design approach

- prevent health and safety risks in the workplace.

The course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression. It alternates between theoretical input, practical exercises and assessment sessions to promote practical and progressive learning.

Skills module 1 – Project analysis, specification and design

- Analyse the client’s requirements and the project context

- Define the characteristics of the structure and draw up the preliminary design

- Draft the technical documents for the tender

Skills module 2 – Tender response

- Analyse the tender documents and define the scope of services

- Research, select and cost the technical solutions for the project

- Draft the comprehensive commercial, technical and economic tender response

Skills module 3 - Detailed design and preparation for project implementation

- Carry out the detailed design of the structure and draw up the construction documents

- Prepare for the workshop fabrication, transport and delivery of the structures

- Prevent risks relating to health and safety at work

- Oversee workshop production, and arrange transport and delivery

Skills module 4 - Verification and validation of part of the project

- Check and then validate a design, a process or a finished product

Skills module 5 - Project management in a professional environment

- Leading and monitoring the implementation of a project

Skills module - General knowledge and communication

- Communicating effectively in everyday and professional contexts

Throughout the programme, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor learning to each individual’s needs.

A work placement also enables learners to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, practical scenarios and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Mixed-gender apprenticeship

Education Nationale certified teachers, Bac +3 trainers with significant experience in adult education, professional lecturers.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Assessment tests may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails the qualification, they retain credit for the modules they have passed and may retake the remaining examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years
